மாதவிடாயின்மை ஆங்கில மொழியில் Amenorrhea (uh-men-o-REE-uh) என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. அதற்கு குறிப்பிட்ட காலம் மாதவிடாய் நிகழாமல் இருப்பது என்பது பொருள். அதாவது ஒன்று அல்லது அதற்கு மேற்பட்ட மாதங்கள் மாதவிடாய் நிகழாமல் இருப்பது என்பது பொருள். 16 வயதிற்குள் மாதவிடாய் ஏற்படாத பெண்களைப் போலவே, தொடா்ச்சியாக 3 மாதங்கள் மாதவிடாய் நிகழாத பெண்களுக்கும் மாதவிடாயின்மை (Amenorrhea) என்ற பிரச்சினை இருக்கிறது என்று பொருள்.
