While COVID-19 is a bigger threat to adults, youngsters can get seriously ill. But regulators will have to decide if healthy elementary-age kids really need a booster, and if so, when.
Trinity Health announced Wednesday it will rebrand all of its Michigan operations under Trinity Health Michigan.
CMS is seeking to correct past overpayments at a time when nursing homes continue to struggle with COVID-19.
“In order to assess the potential impact the rise of cases has on severe disease, including hospitalizations and deaths, and healthcare system capacity, the CDC order will remain in place at this time,” the agency said in a statement.
The agency will initially use the inpatient Quality Reporting Program maternal morbidity structural measure to determine which facilities qualify.
Coronavirus is not solely to blame. Preliminary CDC data also shows the crude death rate for cancer rose slightly, and rates continued to increase for diabetes, chronic liver disease and stroke.
According to the settlement, one the surgeons was a top-producing neurosurgeons in the entire Providence system at the time, and made between $2.5 and $2.9 million a year.
“FDA approval is a critical way for government medical programs to ensure patients get appropriate medicines and devices,” Nick Brown, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington, said in the release.
